If you have just purchased a new home, we suggest changing your locks?
Did you change the locks?
Probably not, you got the keys and the code for the garage door from the previous owners. Most likely, the sellers gave keys to their pet-sitter or even the old boyfriend or girlfriend.
The point is that as the owner of that home you just bought you have no way of knowing who has a key. The chances are that no one will use it to enter to your home while you are not at home and take your new flat screen TV, but then again you never know.
We encourage all of our buyers to change the locks and garage door codes once they close escrow. Because, you never know….
